If you are forced to sit or lie down for long periods—for example, in a wheelchair—you may develop pressure sores (decubitus). Prolonged pressure on the skin damages both the skin itself and the underlying tissue. Because it is often difficult to change position in such situations, the same area of skin remains compressed for too long. How does a medical sheepskin help prevent pressure ulcers?

Washing instructions for medicinal sheepskin
Unlike other sheepskins, this medicinal-grade sheepskin can be washed. These short-haired sheepskins have undergone a special tanning process that allows for washing. Therefore, wash the sheepskin using a wool cycle and let it air dry; avoid direct sunlight or heat sources like radiators. Stretch the leather every few hours to prevent it from becoming hard and stiff. Do not use a tumble dryer under any circumstances.
