How do I care for a sheepskin or lambskin?
A sheepskin is self-cleaning, dirt-repellent, and easy to maintain.
Do not wash a sheepskin too often!
General care for a sheepskin.
Regular brushing with a fleece brush ensures that the hairs remain soft and beautifully fluffy. We recommend airing out the sheepskin regularly. Place it outside in the snow or mist for a few hours. Lay the fleece side down; this may get wet, but the leather underside should not. This is a great way to freshen up the sheepskin.
Washing a sheepskin.
You can hand wash the wool fleece, though it is heavy work, or use a washing machine at a maximum of 30°C with a special PH-neutral wool detergent for sheepskins, which is available from us. Spin the fleece at less than 600 rpm.
Drying a lambskin
Never use a tumble dryer to dry a lambskin. Also, do not dry it in direct sunlight or near an artificial heat source, such as a heater or radiator.
The best way to dry the lambskin is, for example, flat on a towel on the floor. While the fleece is still wet, you can pull it into shape and brush it several times with a fleece brush.
