Hand wash

Step 1

When hand-washing knitwear and wool sweaters, the water temperature is crucial. Always use lukewarm, hand-warm water. Extremely hot or ice-cold water can shock the fibers, causing your garments to shrink or completely lose their shape.

Do not use fabric softener!

Handy tip: Always wash your knitted garments one by one. This prevents colors from accidentally bleeding or mixing with each other.

Step 2

Use only a small amount of detergent when washing your knitwear. Excess soap is difficult to rinse out, which can cause your wool sweaters and knitted items to feel rough over time.

Handy tip: Never wring out or scrub woollen clothing. This damages the fibres, causes extra pilling, and can cause your favourite garment to completely lose its shape.

Step 3

The most important rule for drying knitwear and wool sweaters is simple: never put them in the tumble dryer, as they will shrink immediately. Want to remove excess water after washing? Roll the garment in a clean towel and gently squeeze out the moisture. Then, always dry your knitwear flat on a drying rack.

Handy tip: Never hang wool sweaters or knitwear on a hanger or clothesline; the weight of the moisture causes the fibers to stretch, making the garment lose its shape. Do you need to reshape a garment? Do so very carefully while the fabric is still damp.

Wash in the washing machine

Wash the wool garment inside out on a special wool cycle at a maximum of 30 degrees, use a wool detergent without fabric softener, and avoid high-speed spinning.

It is best to dry large garments flat on a dry towel so they keep their shape. Small items, such as wool socks, can be dried on the clothesline.

Never use a tumble dryer, as this can damage the fabric. With this careful treatment, you will enjoy your wool garment for years to come.
